It wasn't the toughest climb in the world, but seeing a photo finish at the end of a long uphill sprint is certainly unusual. At the finish line of the third stage of the Volta a Catalunya - the Viladecans - La Molina of 218.6 km - Juan Ayuso and Primoz Roglic fought shoulder to shoulder right to the line, and it was the Spanish rider from UAE Emirates XRG who claimed victory. Landa took third place, followed by Martinez, Van Eetvelt, Mas and Bernal in a finish that celebrated the climbers.
For the young Spaniard, fresh from winning Tirreno-Adriatico, this also brings the leader's jersey in the general classification with a 6-second advantage over Roglic.
Among the protagonists of the finale, after French rider Bruno Armirail was caught after being alone in the lead for a long time, was Lorenzo Fortunato who attacked with Soler and George Bennett. He remained at the front with the Spaniard when Kuss joined them, and in the end they were caught less than 600 meters from the finish.
