The enhancement of Italian cycling, teams, and organizers has been at the center of debate in recent days, with several team managers raising the issue. The topic has become highly relevant again today, during the Norcia-Trasacco stage of Tirreno-Adriatico, in the presence of the president of the Professional Cycling League, Roberto Pella, who met with some stakeholders of the movement. This led to a moment of discussion, starting from the statements made by team managers in previous days.
"As a League, our commitment is aimed at raising the level of Italian races, making our product increasingly competitive and attractive for sponsors. In the first part of the season, for example, we have seen a clear qualitative improvement in the first two stages of the Regions Cup. We have invested in strengthening structures, with the introduction of LED arches and a unified television format with institutional graphics, highlighting the presence of Ministries alongside us. A concrete signal that must give confidence to the entire movement. Cycling is becoming increasingly international and evolves with new dynamics compared to the past. For this reason, we must be quick to adapt to the standards of countries that are currently ahead of us."
To ensure a solid and sustainable future for Italian cycling, it is necessary to promote organic growth of the movement, making it more attractive to both institutions and private partners. This also involves expanding into extra-sporting contexts, participating in institutional and cultural events, thus strengthening the visibility of cycling in strategic areas and fostering new development opportunities.
"The goal - continues Pella - is to consolidate these progresses and continue on the path of innovation, so that Italian cycling can maintain a leading role in the international landscape. This means working on multiple fronts: from strengthening the identity of national races to increasing their media visibility, through supporting teams and the growth of young talents. A solid and structured system allows attracting investments, offering greater stability to organizers, and guaranteeing a competitive future for our sport. Positive signals also come from the sporting perspective: this season has started in the best possible way for Italian riders, with already three victories at Tirreno-Adriatico signed by Filippo Ganna, Jonathan Milan, and Andrea Vendrame".
