Classic "stage and jersey" move by Ben Tulett at the 2025 Coppi e Bartali, where by winning the fourth stage, the British rider jumped to the overall lead one day before the conclusion.
Dry since the Tour of Norway 2023, the Visma Lease a Bike rider soared to his fourth professional victory by breaking the balance at the Rio Chiè Pass, which on this occasion transformed into a perfect launching pad.
"I launched my attack at the top of the last climb 5 km from the finish, after which I continued solo and had to really dig deep in my tank to reach the finish line. I'm happy to see my efforts rewarded," said the Sevenoaks native after the finish line.
"Today's stage was really tough. We spent the whole day climbing and descending technical routes, the pace was high and the breakaway was not easy to manage, but my team did an excellent job controlling the race from the beginning. I'm really happy to have been able to reward their hard work with a victory," Tulett continued, who scored his first pro win at the Coppi e Bartali three years ago.
"I think every victory is an important moment in an athlete's career. For me, it's very special to return here where I obtained my first professional victory. I really like this race and in general, I enjoy racing here in Italy," exclaimed the 2001-born rider before praising his teammates.
"We have a great team supporting us behind the scenes and we always try to push ourselves further. I believe this is evident from the two victories we achieved just hours apart. Mattio? He's a young rider with a lot of talent, and this is quite obvious. He's very strong and it's really nice to see him so motivated here in a race in his home country. I'm happy to have also repaid his efforts today," said Tulett, who is about to fly to Spain to further maximize his condition.
"The season is in full swing and I'm very happy to be racing right now. After Coppi e Bartali, I'll go to the Tour of the Basque Country in about 10 days. We'll do our best there, but first we need to focus on tomorrow. We have another very tough day ahead, so the race is certainly not over. We'll give our all until the finish line to try to take home the overall."
