Dario Igor Belletta is the new addition to Solme Olmo: the Treviso-based team, led by Gian Pietro Forcolin, has made an important market move that allows them to further strengthen ahead of the international spring classics.
The 21-year-old from Milan preparing to wear the light blue jersey of the San Biagio di Callalta team, boasts a pedigree as an authentic cycling promise: a complete athlete, equipped with an excellent time trial pace and capable of making a difference on climbs, multiple winner in youth categories, in 2022 he won the Italian Junior Championship. A victory that brought him to the Visma Lease a Bike Development Team with which in 2023 he finished third in both the time trial and road race at the Under 23 Italian Championships and with which he achieved an important seventh place in the Giro di Reggio Calabria, among professionals. In the past season, he obtained other important results, including fifth place at the Gp Sportivi di Poggiana.
"I can't wait to return to racing: I'm feeling good, I'm very motivated and I'm ready to give my best to prove my worth," these are Belletta's first words in the Solme Olmo jersey. "I would have preferred to face a normal season, but that's how it went and I'm happy to return to the group with this jersey. I want to thank my family for always being by my side and Solme Olmo for offering me this important opportunity. I'll do everything to make them enjoy and repay the trust they've placed in me".
Dario Belletta will debut with the Solme Olmo jersey on Sunday at the Gp Adria Mobil, a UCI 1.2 race, scheduled in Novo Mesto (Slovenia) where he will race alongside his new teammates Christian Fantini, Tommaso Colombo, Lukas Blanco, Alessandro Mario Dante, and Riccardo Uderzo.
"In recent days, the possibility of having Dario Belletta with us has materialized and we seized it immediately: first of all because we are happy to give Dario the opportunity to race consistently, and then because his addition allows us to further strengthen ourselves ahead of the international spring classics," observed the President, Gian Pietro Forcolin. "This young man has demonstrated in youth categories that he has the qualities to emerge internationally: I'm sure that within our group he will feel 'at home' and that the race calendar we have already drawn up together will allow him to express himself at his best".
