Parma, the ducal city, wanted to remember the Cyclist Bersaglieri specialty born here on March 15, 1898, thanks to the action and commitment of Lieutenant Luigi Camillo Natali.
In the pleasant setting of the central Ducal Park, there was a solemn ceremony dedicating the "Garden Park of Cyclist Bersaglieri" in the park where last year the monument "Heroes in History and Champions in Sport" was inaugurated.
An initiative promoted by the municipality of Parma in conjunction with the Parma section of the National Bersaglieri Association with the constant support of president Leonardo "Leo" Levati, a Milanese and long-time Parma resident, a plumed infantryman well-known in the cycling world where he worked for a long time in various roles and a persistent, dedicated promoter of multiple initiatives.
Many notable cyclists have served in the Bersaglieri Corps, and to mention just a few, Francesco Moser, Gianni Bugno, G.B. Baronchelli - present at the ceremony with various public administration representatives and military authorities.
The history of their own and the cycling section was remembered in various speeches, that of the plumed infantrymen, with the ceremony accompanied by notes played, both standing and running, as is their custom, by the fanfare with the crimson badges of the bersaglieri.
And many, in various parts of Italy, will have remembered their personal experience in the glorious Cyclist Bersaglieri Corps.
