Elia Viviani's run in the elimination race ends early: the rider from Verona was the eighth out of 23 competitors to leave the competition, caught in an unfavorable position by his opponents. The European title went to young German Tim Torn Teutenberg, a new professional with Lidl Trek, who in an extremely tight final sprint beat Portuguese rider Rui Oliveira, himself a professional with UAE Emirates XRG. Bronze medal went to Belgian Jules Hesters.
WOMEN'S TEAM SPRINT. The Italian trio - composed this evening of Beatrice Bertolini, Siria Trevisan and Miriam Vece - improved their qualifying time and finished fifth with 48.817. The European title went to the Netherlands with Kalee, van de Wouw and Van der Peet (their time 46.322) ahead of Great Britain (Parris Smith, Edmunds and Bell), with bronze going to Germany, who beat Poland.
MEN'S TEAM SPRINT. Stefano Minuta, Mattia Predomo and Matteo Bianchi (who replaced Daniele Napolitano) confirmed their seventh position while improving their qualifying time, finishing in 43.565 (just a few hundredths from the Italian record of 43.497). The European title went to France with Gillion, Helal and Vigier (42.609) ahead of the Netherlands, who lined up alongside phenomenon Harrie Lavreysen with young riders Leneman and Van Loon, finishing in 43.253. Bronze went to Great Britain, who beat the Czech Republic, who had set the fastest time in the morning qualifications.
