A new elite and under 23 team has been born in Turin. This is the Goodshop Yoyogurt team created by Daniele Laino, an entrepreneur from Reana (Turin). Despite his demanding and satisfying commercial activities, Daniele has always found time to dedicate to cycling. Goodshop Yoyogurt is chaired by Turin native Orietta Mason, with the Asti-based Walter Gualdi as "vice", who is often a talent scout for cyclists in Piedmont.
Daniele Laino is the general manager and club secretary. The dynamic Daniele organized the team presentation at Polo 900, an important cultural reference point in the heart of Turin. Ivano Leone, the new vice president of the Piedmont Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation, was present. The nine Goodshop Yoyogurt riders paraded in their elegant orange jerseys.
"There is more than just competitive cycling in the goals of this new team" - Daniele Laino declared - "but also the desire to involve and help those less fortunate". Daniele explained the team's mission with the help of a video showing Liverpool football players bringing moments of happiness to a small disabled fan.
"We will try to bring less fortunate kids to our competitions" Daniele added, visibly moved. The sports directors Andrea Piccato and Riccardo Nagliato have a multi-regional roster at their disposal. The climber from Cuneo, Tommaso Quaglia, could be one of the team's leaders. Quaglia, born in 2006, is making his debut among the under 23s. Last year with Team Giorgi, he secured 3 victories and 5 second places. He is certainly one of the most anticipated 2006-born riders in the coming years. In 2023, he won the Cirié-Pian della Mussa. Among Quaglia's notable performances in 2024 is his success in the Pettenasco classic, on Lake Orta. It should be noted that some of his second places were behind Team Giorgi teammates. The rider from Verzuolo (Flavio Briatore's hometown) would have deserved a few more victories.
The youngest rider available to Nagliato and Piccato is Carlo Della Torre, born on December 4, 2006, in Alzano Lombardo. It's a Val Seriana town that has produced champions in various disciplines. Carlo Della Torre, who lives in Leffe, has won 4 mountain bike races. On the road, he has experience with the Scuola Ciclismo Cene jersey. The staff recognizes excellent improvement margins for Della Torre.
Also born in 2006 is Giovanni Spendolini, from Jesi in the Marche region, who dreams of obtaining his first career victory with the Goodshop Yoyogurt jersey. Manuel Dovesi is a 24-year-old from Ponzano Veneto. Coming from Solme, he hopes to achieve satisfaction in Daniele Laino's team. Of course, we'll see brothers Edoardo and Emanuele Laino, Daniele's sons, in the race. Edoardo Laino, who celebrated his 24th birthday on February 3rd, started cycling among the Giovanissimi and now boasts 50 road victories and 20 in velodromes. Emanuele Laino, 20 years old, also started racing early.
Pinasca (Turin) resident Massimo Peraudo, 20 years old, was with Vertematese last year. With the orange Goodshop Yoyogurt jersey, Turin native Damiano Valerio, born in 2002 from San Maurizio Canavese, hopes to relaunch himself. Damiano Valerio was highly appreciated in youth categories and has 15 victories. Until 2023, as a member of Overall and Lanservice, he often stood out. The climber was also Piedmont Under 23 Regional Champion. However, last year Damiano Valerio remained competitively inactive. If he regains his pedaling rhythm, he could become important in Goodshop Yoyogurt's strategies.
The "Goodshop" roster also includes Kristian Cabras, 26 years old, from Aosta. The sports science graduate has an impressive career as a runner, with performances in 800 and 1500 meters. "Imitating Canadian Michael Woods would be the ultimate goal," says Kristian – "after a running career, he achieved great satisfaction in professional cycling".
For now, Cabras has impressive performances in gran fondos. When he was still in track and field, he got injured: "They told me to cycle to recover faster," explains the Valle d'Aosta native, "and that's how love for cycling blossomed".
The team will use Guerciotti bicycles. There has been a long-standing friendship between Daniele Laino and the Guerciotti family. The athlete roster might expand in the coming days with the arrival of a foreign rider. Goodshop Yoyogurt will debut in Spain at the Vuelta al Guadalentin stage race. The 3 days of racing in the Murcia region will serve the staff to assess the athletes' preparation. The Italian debut is scheduled for Coppa San Geo.
