Filippo Ganna is getting serious and this is demonstrated by the data published on Strava, which shows that on some Spanish climbs the Piedmontese rider was better than Remco Evenepoel. By going on the Strava app, it is possible to follow the training of the champion and just two days ago, during his morning ride, on the "Tarbena climb to Rates" (4.97 kilometers with an average gradient of 5.6%), Ganna was one second faster than the Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel. Pippo recorded a time of 10:10, while Evenepoel had a time of 10:11.
Looking at the results, however, the work done by the Ineos champion on other climbs stands out: in fact, on the same day of February 2nd, on the "Benigembla-Castels" stretch, 11.19 kilometers long with an average gradient of 2.1%, he was again the fastest. Here too, Ganna beat the best time, which belonged to Belgian Lennert Teugels with 16:32, relegating Evenepoel to third place with 17:00.
Filippo Ganna, who will reach France from Spain today to participate starting tomorrow in the Etoile de Besseges (where he will also face the first time trial of his season), confirms in practice that his main goal now is road racing.
Pippo wants to make an important mark in this 2025, leaving behind those disappointing results from the last two seasons. After the Etoile de Besseges – Tour du Gard, Ganna will race the Figueira Champions Classic on the 16th in Portugal, but the truly important appointments will be Milan-Sanremo on March 22nd and Paris-Roubaix on April 13th.
This 28-year-old guy, 193 centimeters tall, wants to send an important message: in addition to reclaiming his primacy in time trials, where he has already worn the world championship jersey twice, he wants to become a classics rider. At the Spring Classic, he boasts a second place in 2023, while with Paris-Roubaix, the relationship is more difficult and in his 4 participations, the sixth place from two years ago can be noted. However, this is a race where the Piedmontese can do well and in 2016, in the under-23 race, he managed to win by a margin of 49" over his pursuers.
