Antonio Tiberi did not start his Tour of the Alps in the best way: besides the adaptation problems that many riders face after intense high-altitude training, the Lazio native of Bahrain Victorious is dealing with typical seasonal issues, cough and breathing difficulties. In short, Tiberi is quite "congested" and the hope is that his condition will improve day by day, although it won't be easy for him to tackle a demanding race like the Tota, which is challenging every single day.
UPDATE. With 55 km to go, Antonio Tiberi makes his decision: the Lazio rider has withdrawn. His coach Franco Pellizotti confirmed: "Yesterday morning, Antonio woke up with a sort of discomfort and low appetite, he completed a good stage losing a few seconds at the end. This morning at the start he was enthusiastic and seemed to be feeling better, but along the way the physical issues resurfaced. At this point, in agreement with the team doctor and his trainer, Antonio decided to stop."
