It's a Team Hopplà literally unleashed. Just 48 hours after Alfio Andrea Bruno's success at Castello di Albola, Riccardo Lorello, 19 years old (born in December 2005), offers the team led by Stefano Roncalli the fifth victory in 50 days and his second personal win after the circuit in Torre di Fucecchio at the end of February.
A not easy victory in a race held on a cold and rainy day that decimated the group of participants in the 63rd Mercatale Valdarno Fair Cup, so much so that out of 160 starters, only 49 finished the race. Lorello at the uphill finish line on Via Giuseppe Verdi preceded Guerra, Fraticelli, and his teammate Burani, while Colombian Camargo arrived 9" later, a trio at 39", and the others at 54". It was a thrilling and exciting finale after the race was shortened by 19 km due to bad weather, essentially removing a lap with the Caposelvi climb. In the final lap with the San Marco climb, emotions and plot twists with a quintet of protagonists, and Hopplà could leverage its numerical superiority with Burani and Lorello. But above all, here is the confirmation of a splendid athletic condition, making them a strong, united, and cohesive collective that rewards the work of the technical staff, management, and sponsors.
As for Lorello, his brilliant growth is clear and evident. An athlete skilled on every route and also equipped with a remarkable sprint that allowed him to get the better of Guerra, a worthy and excellent opponent. Also impressive were the performances of Fraticelli from Trevigiani, Burani already in the spotlight two days earlier in the race won by Bruno, and Camargo, a Colombian who continues to occupy a spot in the top ten of races while awaiting a victory he would deserve. The Mercatale Valdarno race was organized by Polisport 2000 and directed by Fabrizio Carnasciali and Enzo Amantini.
