After breaking the ice with the Piva Trophy, the international race campaign in the Treviso province continues with the San Vendemiano Trophy 2025, which will take place tomorrow over 171.6 km.
29 teams and 174 riders will tackle the now-famous route of the San Vendemiano classic, characterized by an initial 10 km completely flat city circuit to be repeated 10 times, and then, above all, by the climbs of Manzana (1.6 km at 3.6%) and the Ca' del Poggio Wall (1.1 km at 13%), twinned with the Flemish Muur and the French Mûr de Bretagne, to be done 5 times. With 16 km remaining after exiting the circuit, every moment will be breathtaking.
"In these months, our staff has done great work to ensure that Sunday will be ready for a great cycling celebration," said San Vendemiano Cycling Club President, Fabrizio Furlan. "I want to thank the law enforcement, the numerous collaborators and volunteers who will be present on the course on Sunday to guarantee the safety of the athletes. A special thanks to the San Vendemiano Municipal Administration for the support they have guaranteed us again this year, and to all the sponsors who accompany us with great passion and enthusiasm."
Filippo Turconi (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizan) will also be at the start, winner of the Piva Trophy last week. The team with number 1 will be MBH Bank Ballan Csb, which won last year with Florian Samuel Kajamini and this year will rely on Cesare Chesini, Manuel Oioli, and Lorenzo Masciarelli. Watch out also for Jakob Omrzel and the local rider Alessandro Borgo (Bahrain Victorious), Milano-Busseto winner Gabriele Bessega (Biesse Carrera), Mexican Cesar Macias (Petrolike), 3rd at Piva, Uruguayan national champion Ciro Perez Alvarez (MG K Vis), and Austrian champion Marco Schrettl (Tirol KTM).
The recent honor roll is of great prestige, including already mentioned Kajamini, as well as Paul Lapeira, Antonio Tiberi, Andrea Bagioli, Alberto Dainese, Nicola Conci, Simone Consonni, Gianni Moscon, and Sacha Modolo. Going back a few more years, you'll find Ivan Basso, Marzio Bruseghin, and Mirko Gualdi.
This will be a special edition for VC San Vendemiano, as it will be the first without the historic president and founding member Gino Mazzer.
