A new Granfondo has been scheduled for Sunday, September 25, 2025, with the aptly named "Alpi del Mare" that covers the territory of the "Provincia Granda", the Piedmontese province of Cuneo bordering Liguria and its sea.
The base of operations for start and finish is the beautiful and historic city of Mondovì, rich in monuments, history, and multiple attractions, certainly not least of which are its culinary offerings.
At the forefront of promoting the initiative is a well-known personality for his multiple roles in politics, territorial activity promotion, and valorization of its peculiarities, including in cycling as the creator and leader of the renowned COL (Local Organizing Committee) that has conducted various historic stages of the Giro d'Italia for about fifteen years and even another of the Tour de France, in the Provincia Granda. It is Ferruccio Dardanello who, in the incisive video interview presented here, summarizes the purpose of the new event that aims to remember the figure of Lorenzo Tealdi, "Teo" to everyone, a top-tier figure at the operational head of the COL with many collaborators who followed him faithfully, one could say blindly without fear of contradiction, a sort of mobile, unstoppable "bridgehead" pursuing the preset objective, in tandem, on the other hand, with the sweetness and efficient operational serenity in an extensive logistical context, always discreet, of Mrs. Angela Dardanello, key points of the COL and beyond.
A COL structure that has pioneered various initiatives for territorial promotion through cycling that developed subsequently.
And the volcanic Tealdi, a professional banker - somewhat unconventional indeed - who was prematurely taken away by Covid, was known among cycling enthusiasts for his initiatives in this group of cyclists, with the flagship being the Giro delle Valli Cuneesi, a top-tier stage race.
The first reference information for the newborn event can be found here.
