
In the presence of the Mayor of Martellago, Andrea Saccarola, the Commerce Councilor, Ennio Corò, the Manager, Giovanni Scapin, the President of the Fci of Venice, Giuseppe Clementi and the Councilor, Valerio Ferro, the teams that will defend the colors of the Martellago-Maerne-Olmo Cycling Union in the new competitive season were presented in the Maerne Library, in the province of Venice. Two former athletes who made the history of the club, Giovanni Longo and Laura Doria, also participated in the ceremony. The President of the club, Gianfranco Vallongo, in his speech highlighted the long history that has characterized the society, which in 52 years has had "the ability to adapt to changes and the desire to be present in the territory with numerous initiatives and is now analyzing the possibility of creating events for amateurs and returning to take care of beginners in 2026. The goal is to give the opportunity to numerous young people who cannot find a team to register and continue to follow our sport".
The Mayor emphasized the great importance of sport as a means of youth growth and underlined the long history that has accompanied the society and which has succeeded in bringing together, under a single brand, the three bell towers of the Municipality and being the only one to do so. The first citizen announced the Municipality's intention to improve the Martellago Velodrome and that funds have been requested for resurfacing and creating two curves for better use of the facility. "I extend my best wishes to the management and young athletes - Saccarola concluded - and may this season be rich in success, but above all characterized by values of sharing and sportsmanship. The commitment and passion you dedicate to cycling are an example for everyone and together we will continue to promote a healthy and inclusive sport". The Fci President, Clementi, and Councilor Ferro extended their wishes for the new year and invited the club to create a School within the Sports Facilities based at the Velodrome.
Among the main objectives of the club are performing well at the National Meeting for Young Riders in Viareggio and in the Venice Team Championship valid for the Bike&Bike Bellato Trophy. The races organized by the club are 6: on April 6th the 4th Road Trophy "I Tre Memorial" in Maerne; on May 10th the 11th Gp Techna LP on the road in Martellago; on June 2nd the 7th Off-road and Cycling Game in Olmo valid for the Bike&Bike Bellato Trophy; on July 13th the 2nd Cagnin Trophy on the road for young riders and beginners in Sant'Angelo di Santa Maria di Sala and valid for the Provincial Championship and then on October 5th the 4th Trophy dedicated to the "Memory of Alessio and Nicola" for beginners in Martellago.
The teams that will defend the colors of Uc Martellago-Maerne-Olmo are 3 and composed of 24 athletes: 21 young riders, 1 beginner and 2 juniors. The Board is formed by the President, Gianfranco Vallongo; the Vice President, Nerio Torresin and the Councilors, Silvia Buzzo, Giorgio Conselvan, Andrea Doria, Michele Longo and Luigi Miellinato. DS: Roberto Vallongo, Alessio Zambianchi, Fabio Barilla, Elio Tertan and Renato Caramel. Coaches: Giulia Vallotto, Michele Longo, Francesco Pasqualato and Manuel Ceron.
