What better way to honor the memory of a manager who passed away prematurely than by organizing the 4th edition of a great event in his memory? The Pietraperzia event was a fantastic day of sport in the name of Pasquale Costa, with more than 200 participants across all categories, from beginners to amateurs to Elite, in a competition valid for the Sicily Cup.
The Amateur Race (M3.M9) was dominated by Angelo Parisi (Elios Team) who managed to set a great pace from the first lap and won with great authority, preceding Paolo Santoro (Team Bike Noto) and Fabio Cardillo (Probike Erice).
Two athletes battled for victory in the Elite Race, Emanuele Spica (Rolling Bike Racing Team) and Salvatore Lo Monaco (Team Race Mountain): Lo Monaco started explosively, not surprising the very strong Spica, and the two fought without holding back. However, Spica delivered the final blow two laps from the finish, winning with a 40-second advantage over the indomitable and tenacious Lo Monaco.
In the Elite Women category, Elisa Stodiale (Madone Racing Team) triumphed alone.
The Juniors race was dominated with great authority by Nazzareno Saglibene (Racing Team Agrigento), who imposed a constant pace from the early stages that left no chance for his opponents, with Emanuele Morici (Probike Erice) and Gabriele Da Campo (Team Doctor Bike) finishing behind him.
The women's victory in the Juniors category went to Sofia Eliotropio (Probike Erice), who won ahead of Erika Boscarino (Naturosa Bike) and Giada Nascondiglio (Naturosa Bike).
The Beginners and Cadets race provided great emotions, given the numerous participation. In the second-year Cadets male category, Giovanni Scarso (Nonsolobike) won ahead of Paolo Aglialoro (Giesse Pro Cycling) and Giammarco Occhipinti (Pedale Ibleo Ragusa). Among the second-year Cadet Women, Grazia Cerruto (Nonsolobike) was victorious.
In the first-year Cadets category, Ivan Mortillaro (Giesse Pro Cycling) won ahead of Romeo Gioele (ASD Bike 1275) and Francesco Rotolo (Giesse Pro Cycling), while in the women's category, Silvia Gullì (Mongibello MTB) won ahead of Simona Azzaro (Madonie Bike).
The first-year Beginners race went to Giuseppe Giglio from Team Nibali, ahead of Lorenzo Giannone (Nonsolobike) and Riccardo Polizzi (N.A.G. Palermo), with Katia Scalia (Mongibello) winning in the women's category.
Among the second-year Beginners, Federico Sorrenti (Etna Valverde) triumphed ahead of Matteo Arcidiacono (Catania Bike) and Matteo Burcheri (Team Race Mountain), with Maria Zuccarello (Mongibello Team) winning in the women's category.
A day of sport that will be remembered for a long time, which moved us and left everyone breathless, because the true victory was seeing all participants color and honor the extraordinary commitment of the organizers, led by ASD Pietrina president Filippo Spampinato and Nicolò Rindone. A special thanks to Mayor Salvuccio Messina and the Municipal Administration who believed in and supported the event.
