From Kigali to Musanze, the second stage of the Tour du Rwanda marked by Australia. The sprint winner is Brady Gilmore, 23 years old, and he rides for Israel Premier Tech. By the way, the Israeli team leverages excellent team play and places Itamar Einhorn in second place, while the third spot goes to the French Total Energies rider Lorrenzo Manzin. Fabien Doubey, a rider from the same French team, remains in the yellow jersey.
THE RACE. Just out of the capital, Rwandan Shemu Nsengiyuwma from Java Inovotech and German Vincent Dorno from Bike Aid break away and their action crosses three of the four climbs of the day, not overpasses but rolling hills full of scenic suggestions. The lively Musanze approaches, where riders already pass with 25 kilometers left of the 102-kilometer stage. People everywhere, not even a spot on the balconies overlooking the finish line of the town 30 km from the Uganda border. In the background, the great volcanoes and park areas where gorillas can be seen. The UAE Gen Z riders and Eritreans decisively take the initiative, also reaching a courageous Ethiopian from the WCC Cycling Center.
The local duo of Eric Manizabayo and Patrick Byukusenge still bring Java - Inovotec to provoke some small surges at the front, but it's an extremely tight sprint in Gilmore's name.
