Last days of training in Sardinia, the official photos by the sea mean, as every year, that the competitive season of Team F.lli Giorgi Brasilia ISI Service is ready to set sail.
The team of president Carlo Giorgi spent 8 days of training in Sardinia, where temperatures are milder and the climate is ideal for training. All riders present (they are 16 in the roster) except for Thomas Bernardi who is temporarily stopped due to health issues and will start racing later.
Sports director Leone Malaga explained: "The preparation went quite well during the winter. Apart from some minor ailments and seasonal illnesses, everyone has been able to train well. The workload has been done appropriately for the category and I can only be satisfied with the preparation".
Analyzing the attitude of the new team, Malaga adds: "I see the team well, absolutely in line with the expectations of previous years. We have many new riders, but the value of those taken from the Allievi category is remarkable. The confirmed riders have already demonstrated last year to be very valid riders, not only for the victories obtained, but also for the experience gained and what they have shown in races. And among the new ones, two are in their second year, taken from other teams. I'm talking about Basso who comes from GB Junior Team and Vaccher from Borgo Molino. I hope they can make the quality leap they deserve with us. We have a very homogeneous and complete team with riders suitable for all types of terrain. The novelty is the Polish athlete Igor Mitoraj who is the national champion in the Allievi category for both time trial and endurance track specialties. He is an excellent passer and from how he has been working in these first days he has been with us, he promises to be a very valid athlete to work with and we will also aim to develop him over the course of two years".
Always with Sports Director Leone Malaga, we take a look at the objectives of the new season: "They are the usual ones for every season. We aim for the main national and international races, this year there are many. There are four stage races on national territory and we will participate in all four and we will also pay particular attention to our riders' commitments with the National Team. Rosato has already been called up a couple of times during the winter for two training camps and we also have Marangon who is included in the blue track group. Other objectives are certainly the home race, the Vittorio Giorgi a.m. Trophy, which is scheduled for June 15 and which this year will present an important novelty because it will be a stage race: in the morning the line race on a route renewed compared to the classic route of the past and in the afternoon the hill climb reserved for the first 20 classified in the morning race plus one athlete of choice for each society classified in the top twenty. And then the objective that always remains in the drawer is to try to win the Italian road title that is missing from our team's showcase".
The team's competitive debut is scheduled for Sunday, March 2 with a double commitment: Team Giorgi will be divided between the Tecnomeccanica Trophy in Volta Mantovana and the national race in Lamporecchio (PT), Giuliano Baronti Grand Prix.
