In the province of Treviso, before the professional and amateur races begin in Italy, people gather around the table. About twenty people, no more. It's called the "Cycling Friends' Lunch" and takes place at the "Collina degli Asini" agriturismo of Marzio Bruseghin, in the Piadera locality of Vittorio Veneto. Of Marzio Bruseghin, with his inevitable fan club cap with donkey ears, among the most important results in 15 years of professional cycling (1997 to 2012), we remember the third place at the Giro d'Italia 2008 (four times in the top 10); that year he also participated in the Beijing Olympics and was seven times in the national team. He was also the professional time trial Italian champion in 2006.
People with cycling in their blood attended the event. In addition to the three organizers Valter De Martin, Luciano Gasparotto and pastry chef Ivan Bortolotto, Lino Bet was present, a counselor of the Team Continental Uc Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol (who at eighty years old still rides a racing bike), the mayor of Orsago Giancarlo Mion who organizes the race in memory of his brother, and Gianfranco Carlet, organizer of the under 23 Giro del Belvedere race in Villa di Cordignano.
Three former Treviso professionals also did not want to miss the event: Claudio Bortolotto, from Orsago, gregario of Francesco Moser, Silvano Lorenzon from Cimadolmo, and Giovanni Moro from Fontanelle. The former sports director of Tadej Pogacar, Lucio Caldo, who baptized the world champion's first victory, also participated, as well as Bruno Battistella, president of the Pordenone Track Friends. Giovanni Taschetto was also there, who owns a bicycle of Ottavio Bottecchia, winner of the Tour de France in 1924-1925 and collaborator of the Altolivenza Cycling Museum in Portobuffole.
