Among those who stood out in the fourth stage of the AlUla Tour 2025 was undoubtedly Alessandro Romele. The 2003-born rider from XDS Astana Team moved in the early stages of the race and, together with his teammate Alexandr Vinokurov and other brave attackers, gave life to a long-distance breakaway that was ultimately neutralized by the peloton 11 kilometers from the finish.
"We planned to try something in one of these stages. However, today's breakaway wasn't planned because I knew the final climb would be too challenging for me, even arriving with a couple of minutes' advantage, which the peloton wouldn't have allowed anyway," the young Italian commented after the finish line.
"Let's say today was a healthy day of sport, a mix of fun and effort, but that's okay, we're here to build our form after all. Now we'll try to recover as much as possible for tomorrow, a day where I had already thought of doing something," Romele continued, aware like everyone in the group that the final stage could again be characterized and directed by the wind factor.
"Tactically, going in the breakaway today wasn't the best move because the energy spent was considerable, but I trust that my sensations are improving day by day and my legs are getting stronger. Tomorrow, if there are echelons, we'll try to do like we did on Wednesday - ride as far forward and as intelligently as possible, which in the end is what makes the difference, and then try something in the finale."
