First World Cup victory for Ceylin Del Carmen Alvarado (Fenix Deceuninck). The Dutch champion triumphs in the fourth stage in Namur, Belgium, at the end of a difficult race made extremely challenging by the muddy circuit and steep descents that proved fatal for world champion Fem Van Empel, who suffered numerous falls.
Alvarado made the difference during the fourth of the six scheduled laps when she broke away from Hungarian Kata Blanka Vas, who in the meantime had been caught by Dutch rider Puck Pieterse, the latter making her seasonal debut in Cyclocross races. A victory by a significant margin for Alvarado, born in 1998 and originally from the Dominican Republic, ahead of Lucinda Brand, who finished second after an incredible comeback: a result that allows her to maintain the World Cup leadership. An excellent Puck Pieterse completes the podium. Vas finished fourth, Schreiber fifth, Worst sixth, and world champion Van Empel seventh.
Sara Casasola was not particularly brilliant: the Italian champion appeared to struggle on the treacherous Namur circuit, especially in the downhill sections where great skill and balance were required to stay on the pedals. Casasola nonetheless secured a good eleventh place.
