Alto Adige celebrates Marco Frigo's (Israel Premier Tech) first professional victory and witnesses Giulio Ciccone's advance in the Regions Cup rankings, who with his 4th place in San Candido gains 38 points and soars to 98 overall. Behind him, the Veneto rider Frigo, who with the 60 points earned from yesterday's success breaks into 2nd place in the individual standings. Christian Scaroni (XDS Astana) drops to 3rd place with 50 points.
The Israel Premier Tech rider, who attacked throughout the stage, gained important points in all classifications, leaping to the top of the youth ranking (Davide Piganzoli also performed very well) and rising to 2nd place in the climbers' challenge, as well as the most combative classification. Rankings still led by Mattia Bais (Team Polti Visit Malta). The Italian team directed by managers Ivan Basso and Alberto Contador recovered 18 points from VF Group Bardiani CSF - Faizan, still first at 160 points.
The Tour of The Alps stages, excellently organized, highlighted the primary importance of safety issues and road education, as emphasized by the Professional Cycling League President, Roberto Pella, who since his appointment has ensured that the Race Directors and Safety Commission closely follows safety themes for athletes.
"During these days at the Tour of the Alps," - states Pella - "I had the opportunity to meet and personally experience the great commitment that the Michele Scarponi Foundation and the Association born in memory of Sara Piffer, promoted directly by her parents, carry out daily in the territories, together with many other organizations in Italy, to promote a culture of safety. My commitment, both as a parliamentarian and as President of the Cycling League, will increasingly converge towards initiatives, including parliamentary ones, and projects capable of preventing new tragedies and promoting a culture of respect for vulnerable road users".
