"The Fabio Casartelli" is now a fixed appointment in the summer for two-wheel enthusiasts: next July 20th, Albese con Cassano (Co) will host the twenty-sixth edition of the event, created to keep alive the memory of its champion, who passed away prematurely in 1995.
The cycling event, organized by the Casartelli Foundation in collaboration with GS Alzate, will take place under the aegis of CSI, the first novelty of the 2025 edition and with the fundamental support of System Cars by patron Ambrogio Romanò, reprising the formula of timed uphill sections on the mythical climbs of Ghisallo and Colma di Sormano, with the fearsome "Wall".
The competitive sections will be closed to traffic for a time window that will allow participants to add a touch of competition, in total safety, within a day that will allow cycling peacefully in the Larian triangle, enjoying fantastic views of Lake Como and Lecco.
There will be three event routes: the short route, 58 km, open to participants with non-competitive fitness certification and e-bikes, the medium route, 75 km, with the Ghisallo climb, and the long route, 107 km, which will tackle the climbs of Ghisallo and Colma di Sormano.
Rankings will be individual or in couples "him&her" and will reward the best climbers of the day by summing the times achieved on the Ghisallo climb and the Sormano Wall, which will be open only to cyclists for the occasion: there will also be a team ranking that will reward the societies that have covered the most kilometers.
Only for the short route, a regularity ranking is planned, a specialty returning to the scene after years of absence, open to all participants in the 58 km route, which will see the athlete proclaimed winner who comes closest to the time established by the organization, calculated according to an hourly average accessible to all participant types, without any competitive ambitions.
