Marco Frigo makes his mark in the third stage of the Tour of the Alps and conquers his first victory as a professional at the San Candido finish line. The 25-year-old from Vicenza, riding for Israel Premier Tech, broke away from the start in Vipiteno, attacked and dropped all competitors on the Furcia Pass, and completed a solo breakaway of over 50 km, gaining time on the climb and managing his advantage through the tricky descents.
Behind him, the group of top riders came very close, with Jai Hindley winning the sprint for second place just 19 seconds behind the winner. Third place went to Derek Gee, fourth to Giulio Ciccone, and seventh to Damiano Caruso, with Australian Michael Storer maintaining the leader's jersey in the general classification.
