The event "The Giro Carved in Wood" that took place in Gramsci Square, in the center of Castelnovo ne' Monti, generated great interest over the past weekend. It was a symposium of artists working and carving wood during which a sculpture was taking shape that will represent and commemorate the arrival of the 2025 Giro d'Italia in Castelnovo. The central body of the wooden work representing the pink cyclist's logo pedaling on the infinity symbol and eight surrounding elements depicting cyclists with different colored jerseys have been completed.
The entire piece will be inserted in a large corten profile depicting the skyline of the Bismantova Stone, and will remain even after May 21st (date of the arrival in the center of the eleventh stage of the Giro, Viareggio - Castelnovo Monti) as a future memory of this historic event for the Apennines. The wooden work was created by local artists such as Alessandro Colombari from Castelnovo ne' Monti, Palmiro Incerti from Vezzano and Claudio Ferrarini from Felina, a member of the Olmo d'Oro Carugate (MI) association, together with Luca Maffezzoli and Demetrio Pittau, also members of Olmo d'Oro, which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year.
Vittorio Malvolti and Adam Pellegrini are the artists involved in the corten component and are from Castelnovo Monti and Vezzano respectively. Their collaboration is part of the technical partnership with the Giro d'Italia Stage Committee of Malvolti Paolo metal carpentry from Castelnovo Monti.
