More than 200 students filled the Bismantova Theater yesterday morning, on the occasion of an event dedicated to the values of cycling and sports in general, particularly those related to the Ethical Charter drafted by the Emilia Romagna Region. The event was attended by second and third-grade classes from the Bismantova and Villa Minozzo Comprehensive Schools.
The morning, which was very engaging with many moments of direct student participation, was coordinated by Luca Simonelli, who immediately invited Carlo Boni, the Sports Councilor of Castelnovo, to give the welcome address. Boni emphasized that the projects the Municipality is implementing with schools are fundamental for transmitting reference sports values to young people, for example through the Multisport ne' Monti project, and how important these values are for their growth.
Giammaria Manghi, coordinator of sports policies for the Region, then spoke, explaining: "Sport carries values, as recognized by the Italian Constitution, in its role of promoting healthy lifestyles and protecting young people, and the ethical charter aims to encourage behaviors that can also be an opportunity for community growth".
Marco Brunale, a collaborator with Rcs for the Giro-E organization, then illustrated this event that will see a stage finish in Castelnovo concurrent with the pink race. This bike experience, which takes place during the Giro d'Italia on parts of the routes covered by professionals, with participants including former professional athletes or famous personalities pedaling on assisted road bikes (e-road bikes), sparked curiosity among the students. Finally, the morning session led by Marco Martinelli, a scientific communicator and collaborator with the Sant'Anna University of Pisa, was extremely engaging: he used an interactive method based on ten questions that students could answer directly in the theater using their mobile phones, ranging from physics to chemistry, to the best cycling clothing, and even discussing artificial intelligence applied to bicycles. A moment that the students greatly enjoyed.
Martinelli is indeed known for his narrative and passionate abilities, collaborating with Rcs for the Bike-School project and also with Rai, with hundreds of thousands of followers on social media (with the profile Marco il Giallino). Fabrizio "Faber78" won the question competition, scoring 865 points.
The events leading up to the Giro's arrival in Castelnovo continue with one of the most anticipated moments: this evening at 7 PM at the Wellness Village Onda della Pietra, "The Champions' Aperitif" will take place. The guest of honor will be Paolo Bettini, Olympic gold medalist in cycling in Athens and at the World Championships in Salzburg and Stuttgart, as well as winner of many classics. The event, open to all, will also be an opportunity to wish him a happy birthday, as Bettini was born on April 1, 1974. For the special toast at Onda della Pietra, another Olympic champion from the Apennine territory will be present, Giuliano Razzoli, gold medalist in slalom at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, and other cycling friends and companions, including none other than Davide Cassani, today a commentator for the Giro d'Italia.
