
Matteo Bianchi does not give up his throne in the European standing kilometer. The Bolzano rider from MBH Bank Ballan CSB had already set the best time in qualifications and confirmed himself this evening in the final, pedaling in 59.865.
Silver medal for German Maximilian Dorbach (1.00.390) and bronze for Czech David Peterka with 1.01.018. Seventh place for Stefano Minuta who rode in 1'02"118, worsening his qualification performance but still doing better than Czech Hytych.
MEN'S POINTS RACE. Portuguese Iuri Leitao dominated the race, conquering laps (an incredible five) and sprints in rapid succession, reaching 157 points. Silver medal for Dutch Yanne Dorenboos (114 points) while the bronze battle saw Belgian Jasper De Buyst prevail with 106 points over Frenchman Clement Petit who stopped at 103. Ninth place for young Italian Juan David Sierra, born in 2005, who cleverly gained a lap in the first part of the race and authoritatively won the final sprint right in front of Portuguese Leitao.
WOMEN'S ELIMINATION. Great performance by eighteen-year-old Piedmontese Anita Baima who, at her Elite debut, secured sixth place. Gold medal for Irish Lara Gillepsie ahead of Belgian Helene Hesters and Dutch Lisa Van Belle.
