"The Three Tailors of the King" is the new documentary produced by Raisport set to be released in June 2025, as a Special Radiocorsa. Following the one dedicated to Ottavio Bottecchia, "El furlan de Fero", released in July 2024 on the centenary of the first Italian cyclist's Tour de France victory in 1924 (a documentary awarded at the international sports film festival in Milan in November 2024), on the occasion of Eddy Merckx's 80th birthday, Raisport journalist Franco Bortuzzo has recounted the story of three great bicycle artisans, Faliero Masi, Ernesto Colnago, and Ugo De Rosa, who crafted almost all the winning bikes of the Belgian 'cannibal'.
With interviews with Cristiano De Rosa (Ugo's son), Alberto Masi (Faliero's son), Ernesto Colnago, and Eddy Merckx himself, we dive into the atmosphere of the Sixties and Seventies, dominated by the Belgian cyclist, discovering how craftsmanship technologically developed in the world of bicycles and who the current heirs of the three great 'tailors' of Eddy Merckx are. 75 exciting minutes, rich with images from Rai archives, with editing by Luca Zanoli and narration by Francesco Pancani, 75 minutes that help us understand what the Eddy Merckx phenomenon was and why the Belgian chose Italian technique to build all of his most important career successes.
