The Piasco Cycling Union is preparing to face its second year of participation in the junior category cycling season. Born from a synergy between two cycling realities in the Cuneo province, namely the Vigor led by Claudio Mattio and the Esperia piloted by Bruno Salvatico, the team is coming off an excellent year, even exceeding expectations. Two victories and several notable placements constitute the positive balance of 2024. "Results that are doubly valuable because they were obtained in a challenging context, given the financial budget difference between us and many other clubs. It's easy to win when you have money to buy the best, but building a team is difficult. And we will try again this year, faithful to our philosophy that focuses on commitment and passion." This is the analysis by Roberto De Filippo, the sports director who follows the team, assisted by former Brunero rider Gianluca Cesare. Repeating last year's success won't be simple, especially since Riccardo Giuliano, who achieved the two victories, has decided to switch to triathlon and leave cycling, while another top athlete, Gabriele Peluso, has crossed the Ticino to join the Ecotek team in Lombardy. Thirteen riders will debut in international, national, and regional races scheduled from March. Good performances are expected from second-year rider Simone Stecca from Chieri. The former Brunero rider is eager to make up for a season affected by physical problems. Of the same age are Jacopo Di Vittorio, Pietro Pernigotti (excellent winner in the recent Mappano cyclocross), Matteo Ricchiardi, and the only non-Piedmontese riders, the Ligurians Igor De Rienzo, Alessandro Micolucci, and Alessandro Viola. Debuting in the category are Ascanio Alari, Francesco Belmondo, Leonardo Giovannini, Filippo Martino, and Gabriele Tamietti. Michele Gertosio, in his third year, completes the team.
