Founded in 2024 as an amateur club, in 2025 the Karcag Cycling - Epkar Team will make the leap into the UCI Continental category. The team, which already participated in international competitions of the UCI Europe Tour calendar last season, aims to take part in professional races, with the primary goal of being at the start of the Tour of Hungary and building a solid group for the future.
The small city of Karcag, with a population of about 20,000, is located 170 km east of Budapest, in the Great Hungarian Plain. In recent years, thanks to Mayor Tibor Szepesi, a great cycling enthusiast and one of the main promoters of the team, it has hosted the start of the Tour of Hungary multiple times, becoming a reference point for Hungarian cycling.
Among the team's executives is István Pisok, a name already known in the Hungarian cycling scene, having been the owner of the P-Nívó Betonexpressz 2000 team.
With the entry into the UCI Continental category, the main sponsor represented by the city of Karcag is joined by the construction company Epkar, based in Budapest. The Karcag Cycling - Epkar Team athletes will race on bicycles from the historic Italian brand Bottecchia, wear Veloplus clothing, and use Rudy Project helmets and glasses.
The team will be led by sports directors Ferenc Stuban, Norbert Mihály, and Rida Cador.
The roster of athletes for the 2025 season will be composed of Hungarians: Viktor Filutás (2-time national road champion), Attila Gerely, Norbert Hrenkó, Bálint Kárpáti, Benedek Kiss, Olivier Móré-Gosselin, Bendegúz Mátyás Nagy, Marton Solymosi, Dániel Túri, Levente Vasko, the British Dylan Humber-Kelly, and the Italian Andrea Colnaghi.
