The premature withdrawal from the Tour of the Alps forced Antonio Tiberi and Bahrain Victorious to slightly revise their approach to the Giro d'Italia 2025. Initially, if the euroregional race had gone as expected, they were planning to be these days either on Sestriere or on Etna for a high-altitude training camp (after two weeks on Teide before the TotA), and then fly directly to Albania.
After recovering from the gastrointestinal virus, however, Tiberi opted for a slightly different preparation and is currently in the Lucca area with his trainer Michele Bartoli to fine-tune the last details ahead of the Grand Start. Damiano Caruso, who appeared very energetic at the Tour of the Alps, is also with him. The two will have at their disposal, in addition to the great Bartoli and the Bahrain Victorious coach selected for the Giro Ioannis Tamouridis, also a masseur, a physiotherapist, a nutritionist, and a cook.
The goal, after missing an important test like the TotA, is to leave nothing to chance and enable last year's White Jersey winner to be in Albania in the best possible physical condition. Moreover, given the importance of the Tuscan stages in the upcoming Giro (Lucca-Pisa time trial and white roads stage), there will be no shortage of opportunities for thorough reconnaissance.
