Alessandro Covi strokes the leader's jersey on his chest, opens a smile and tells his story: "After my victory at the Giro d'Italia on Marmolada, I had some unlucky seasons, but now I'm feeling good and I finally feel close to that level. I like Abruzzo, I used to come here on vacation with my parents in a camper when I was little, so I know the roads and routes well, which suit my characteristics perfectly. The finish today was particularly ideal for me. In terms of the general classification, our leader is Pablo Torres, but I'll try to take advantage of the chances I'll have along the way starting tomorrow."
And then he adds: "It's a fantastic emotion, it's always nice to win. It's difficult, we're professionals, we all work for victory, but few actually succeed. And I'm happy to have done it again after three years. Obviously, when I planned this race, I saw this finish and understood it would be a good opportunity. With the team, we tried to make the race difficult to arrive at the finish line with a small group, and we succeeded perfectly. In the last kilometer, I was able to push until the finish line and, I repeat, I'm really happy."
