The opening stage is an undulating route with an increasingly challenging finale. The first part features a slight uphill in the inland area of Chieti province, followed by the Bocca di Valle climb after passing through Guardiagrele.
The second part is less steep, characterized by continuous ups and downs interspersed with flat sections. The route covers challenging roads with sometimes narrow carriageways, and urban areas present typical traffic obstacles (roundabouts, speed bumps, and traffic dividers). The final kilometers are partially downhill and then feature a steep climb (reaching gradients of 10%) before the final 200-meter flat straightaway.
