Nature, history, culture, and energy: the GeoGravel Tuscany - The Grey Roads tracks have been designed to immerse participants in the most wild charm of the Metalliferous Hills. With start and finish at Piazzone di Pomarance, the event is scheduled for the weekend of May 31 - June 1. Participants can choose from four different routes - Short, Medium, Long, and Ultra - varying in kilometers and elevation gain. Each is a journey through breathtaking landscapes, where all the enchantments of the geothermal area merge into a unique experience.
Short (46 km - 1000 m d+)
Brief but intense, the Short route takes gravelers to discover the Grey Roads between woods and geothermal areas. With about fifteen exciting kilometers of gravel, the track crosses the Monterufoli Nature Reserve and the villages of Libbiano and Serrazzano. A unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the medieval history and mysterious atmosphere of the most authentic Tuscany.
Medium (77.2 km - 1480 m d+)
The medium route is a challenge that leads to the discovery of remote corners and villages that seem suspended in time. With almost twenty-five kilometers of unpaved roads, the track cuts through forests and olive groves, reaching the picturesque village of Querceto, where history and wine tradition intertwine. It then continues towards Larderello, offering an experience that captures the graveler with its unique landscape and the power of geothermal energy.
Long (135 km - 2780 m d+)
The Long route is a true romantic challenge between wild nature and the most demanding cycling. With over 45 kilometers of gravel, the track crosses nature reserves and the most unexplored heart of Val di Cecina. Bolgheri, famous for its vineyards and excellent wine, represents the central point of the route, with a tasty break that celebrates the Tuscan tradition. After the refreshment in Sasso Pisano, the route continues towards Pomarance, offering a challenging final section before concluding the adventure.
Ultra (208 km - 4360 m d+)
The Ultra route is designed for the most daring gravelers, ready to tackle 208 kilometers of pure off-road adventure. The departure from Pomarance is set for Saturday afternoon, with the track developing in two loops. The first leads to Siena, then returns to Pomarance, with the opportunity to participate in the GeoParty. The second loop follows the Long route, crossing breathtaking landscapes, historic vineyards, and nature reserves, such as the Berignone Reserve. More than 100 kilometers of unpaved roads complete this experience that combines the effort of gravel cycling with the beauty of the most unspoiled Tuscany.
Each route is a journey through breathtaking landscapes, where all the enchantments of the geothermal area merge into a unique experience. The Geogravel Tuscany - The Grey Roads awaits gravelers on May 31 - June 1, an unmissable appointment for those who want to experience Tuscany by pedaling through its most authentic and unspoiled side.
