The good momentum of the Solution Tech - Vini Fantini Team continues at the Tour of Hainan, a race where the Italian formation has scored for the third consecutive edition thanks to Dusan Rajovic. The Serbian, coming off two seasons in the World Tour with Bahrain-Victorious, was the most skilled in reading the slightly downhill finish in Lingshui, launching his sprint at the right moment.
"Winning is always great. Today everything went well, the sprint was very fast and my legs, just like yesterday, were good," he told our microphones after the finish line.
"In a sprint, you just need a good eye to find the right wheel and the right speed. Today I simply moved following my instinct and when I decided to launch my sprint, I took off. This is not my first victory in China: I always enjoy coming here and participating in their races," continued the native of Kraljevo, now determined to bring satisfaction to himself and his team.
"Now I aim to win more stages and, why not, have a good overall classification. I think the stages are not so difficult and overall I believe I'm in good condition, so we'll see," he admitted, with Rajovic's triumphs in this first part of the season proving valuable for another reason.
"Besides winning, it's certainly important to collect points because we need to be among the top 30 UCI-ranked teams to have a chance of participating in next year's Giro. It's not easy, but we're trying."
Crucial in this sense will also be the confidence and advice with which the Serbian, by virtue of the experience gained in past seasons in other contexts, will be able to guide his teammates throughout the season.
"Not being very young anymore, I can transmit a certain experience. What do I tell them? They must continue to fight and stay motivated when racing because, especially for teams like this with a budget much lower than World Tour teams, it's not easy to compete even in smaller races with well-equipped teams looking to score as many points as possible. You must always continue to fight and try to give your maximum."
