The Tour of the Alps 2025 is just three weeks away: only 20 days until San Lorenzo Dorsino kicks off the first of five stages (April 21-25) set to ignite public enthusiasm, both on TV and on the roads of Trentino, Alto Adige, and Tyrol. However, the feeling is that this time is much shorter, or that the #TotA 2025 has already begun: thanks to everything moving around the event, the close dialogue with local authorities and stage locations, and the ideas born daily from the #TotA Team's enthusiasm, as well as the packed calendar of events characterizing the lead-up, which on Sunday, March 30th, lived one of its richest and most interesting moments.
The headline match of the Lega Basket Serie A between Aquila Basket and Germani Brescia at "Il T Quotidiano Arena" in Trento was the occasion for "Ride & Dunk", the special initiative promoted by the Trentino company, Tour of the Alps, and Trentino Marketing, in collaboration with FCI Trentino. An event celebrating sports in 360 degrees and engaging audiences of all ages around bicycles in all their forms, sustainable mobility, and road safety.
After a morning ride that saw the participation of, among others, 1988 World Champion Maurizio Fondriest, bicycle enthusiasts gathered in the afternoon at the Aquila Basket headquarters in the Le Albere district of Trento before arriving together at the sports arena, where from 4 PM, a fan zone inspired by the cycling world came to life in the external square.
Of particular note was the educational path set up by FCI Trentino and Trento Local Police, aimed at learning riding techniques and road safety principles for two-wheel travelers. The village, animated by partner radio VivaFM, also featured Trentino, with its two-wheel offerings and communication of its major cycling events: not just Tour of the Alps, but also Giro d'Italia, and the UCI MTB World Series in Val di Fassa (Enduro) and Val di Sole (Cross Country and Downhill), the latter present in Trento with gadgets and promotions ahead of the June 20-22 event in Daolasa di Commezzadura.
The fun continued inside, where Trento and Brescia engaged in a point-to-point battle that saw the Lombard team prevail 78 to 75. During the first break, the Tour of the Alps was a major protagonist on the "Il T Quotidiano Arena" court, with the presentation of the four official leader jerseys through a special choreography and the participation of representatives from four local youth societies.
"The collaboration and friendship with Aquila Basket and Trentino Marketing allowed us to experience a unique day, where sport won, but more specifically an idea of sport that goes beyond finish line orders and scoreboard points: something that both Tour of the Alps and Aquila Basket Trento have successfully and consistently pursued over the years," commented Giacomo Santini, President of GS Alto Garda. "On our part, I renew a heartfelt thanks to the great team that made 'Ride & Dunk' possible, and the hope that this friendship can soon experience other significant moments, perhaps right on the roads of the next Tour of the Alps."
