
Masaki Yamamoto suffered an injury during training. The JCL Team Ukyo rider fell while preparing for upcoming season events in Colle Brianza, where the Italian base of the Japan-based team is located. Promptly transported to the hospital, the 29-year-old sustained a compound fracture of the left femur.
Following the accident, Masaki Yamamoto was operated on at Manzoni Hospital in Lecco. As confirmed by the medical staff of the JCL Team Ukyo, the surgical intervention necessary to ensure a prompt and better recovery was successful.
The rider will now need to observe a period of rest. If no complications arise, he is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the coming days. Subsequently, he can begin the first phase of rehabilitation, with a gradual load.
Masaki Yamamoto will need to remain inactive for at least two months before being able to train on a bicycle. His condition will be constantly monitored during the rehabilitation period.
Certainly, Yamamoto will not be able to participate in the upcoming races in the JCL Team Ukyo calendar, including the Tour of Japan 2025, one of his main seasonal objectives.
In his career, the 1996 class rider was national champion in 2023. In the same year, he also won the Tour de Okinawa and a stage at the Tour de Kumano.
This year, Yamamoto stood out at the AlUla Tour, where he was in the breakaway during the first two stages. In the road race of the Asian Championships, he finished fifth.
The JCL Team Ukyo will accompany Yamamoto in his recovery process, preserving the rider's health as a priority.
