A masterpiece, an act of strength. Primož Roglič dominates the final stage of the Volta a Catalunya 2025: in the stage starting and finishing in Barcelona (88.2 km), the Slovenian won with a solo action, dropping Juan Ayuso and securing the general classification. The Spaniard struggled with the infernal pace and the sudden burst that shattered any strategy planned by UAE: second career victory on Catalan roads for the leader of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, reaching 91 career victories.
SPARKS. After yesterday's stage, shortened to just 25 kilometers due to strong wind gusts, today's stage ignited from the first pedal strokes: Juan Ayuso and Primoz Roglic tried to exploit all bonus seconds to trim as many seconds as possible in the general classification. It was the Slovenian who broke the race on the fourth passage of Alto de Montjuïc, 20 km from the finish, saying goodbye to the competition with a personal attack: the Red Bull - BORA leader's forcing put the Spaniard in crisis, struggling on home roads.
SOLO BREAKAWAY. Roglič subsequently managed a 15" advantage, setting a steady pace on the final climbs. Laurens De Plus (INEOS Grenadiers) and Lennert Van Eetvelt (Lotto), second and third at the finish line respectively, tried to recover ground, but the Slovenian arrived solo. Ayuso had a few moments of hope on the last climb, but the UAE rider paid for the initial attacks to gain bonus seconds during intermediate sprints. Beyond the general classification, Roglic won the points classification and the mountain jersey, while Ayuso took the young rider's jersey.
