After Cesena, Jay Vine now takes Forli. The Australian from UAE Team Emirates XRG launched a solo breakaway after the final climb from Rocca delle Caminate and crossed the finish line of the final stage, preceding Davide Donati (Redbull Bora) by 33" who sprinted to the front of the chasing group, putting his wheel ahead of Alexey Lutsenko's (Israel - Premier Tech).
The overall victory in the stage race organized by G.S. Emilia of Adriano Amici rewards Ben Tulett (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) who stands on the final podium alongside Mark Donovan (Q36.5), second 18" behind, and Igor Arrieta (UAE Team Emirates XRG), third at 23". Best Italian in the general classification is Simone Velasco (XDS Astana) who finished fifth in the competition.
THE STAGE - The last 132 kilometers of the 2025 Coppi and Bartali were animated and full of attacks. From the start in Brisighella, the group did not spare energy and attacks. Nine riders tried to "take away" a breakaway: Ian López (EF Education), Artem Shmidt (INEOS Grenadiers), Pascal Eenkhoorn (Soudal Quick-Step), Federico Savino (Soudal Quick-Step), Ivo Oliveira (UAE Team Emirates - XRG), Manuele Tarozzi (VF Group - Bardiani CSF - Faizan), Adam Ťoupalík (Unibet Tietema Rockets), Adrien Boichis (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) and Luke Tuckwell (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) but their action was already over by the forty-fourth kilometer of the race.
On the first climb towards Rocca delle Caminate the group broke into multiple sections, while radio communications frequently reported withdrawals from the race. Between splits and regroupings, the first mountain prize of the day went to the young Enea Sambinello who crested before his companions Vine and Covi.
The pattern didn't change until 35 kilometers from the finish, when, descending from Bertinoro, Emil Herzog tried, without much luck, to escape the control of the best group. A more decisive attack came from Lorenzo Nespoli (MBH Bank Ballan CSB) who attacked 24 kilometers from the finish and remained in the lead for several kilometers.
The twenty-year-old from Brianza was chased by Vine and D'Aiuto (Petrolike) and, near the new passage at Rocca delle Caminate, was overtaken by the Australian who won the mountain prize ahead of Nespoli himself, Sheffield and Tulett.
Downhill Vine increased his advantage, resisting Jarno Widar's chase and went on to win. The young Belgian from Lotto, instead, was caught in the final meters and saw his placement slip away, which Davide Donati was able to snatch.
