Three-way sprint in the classic Cholet Agglo Tour (French Cup) with Lukas Kubis emerging victorious. The Slovak national champion, riding for Unibet Tietema Rockets and achieving his first win in a 1.1 class race, outsprinted Benjamin Thomas from Cofidis and Niklas Larsen from BHS PL Beton. The main group, caught just behind the breakaway, was beaten by Stokbro in fourth place, with Filippo Magli (VF Group-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè) and Giovanni Lonardi (Team Polti VisitMalta) finishing fifth and sixth respectively.
THE RACE
On the rain-soaked French roads, which caused multiple group crashes, the five-rider breakaway that had formed on the first "wall" of the day was caught 39 kilometers from the finish. The protagonists of the beautiful move were Vojtech Kminek (Burgos), Iker Mintegi (Euskaltel), Simon Bak (Bike Aid), Andrea Pietrobon (Polti VisitMalta), and Declan Irvine (Novo Nordisk), whose effort was ultimately neutralized by the peloton. In the finale, B. Thomas (Cofidis) and Kubis (Unibet Tietema Rockets) tried to break away, later joined by Larsen (BHS PL Beton). The trio was not caught again.
