A Mexican at Superga. Isaac del Toro has won the Milan-Turin 2025 by attacking 150 meters from the finish line at the top of Superga Hill and distancing British rider Ben Tulett (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Norwegian Tobias Halland Johannessen. The UAE Team Emirates - XRG athlete thus conquers his first seasonal victory and concludes the 174-kilometer race in the best possible way, with his team placing Adam Yates fourth. Lorenzo Fortunato of XDS Astana Team finished eighth, the best Italian rider.
THE RACE - After about thirty kilometers from the start in Rho, five riders broke away: Rovereto's Mattia Bais (Team Polti VisitMalta); Bergamo's Davide Baldaccini (Team Solution Tech - Vini Fantini) with his teammate Kristian Sbaragli; Nariyuki Masuda (JCL Team UKYO) and Jonas Rutsch (Intermarchè – Wanty).
Approaching Turin, the peloton, led in turn by Astana, Movistar, Total Energies, Uno X and UAE, reduced the gap to the breakaway riders who started the first climb of Superga Hill with a 50" advantage. On the initial slopes, Masuda, Sbaragli, and Baldaccini lost ground, while Bais and Rutsch, pedaling at a good pace, remained together.
19 kilometers from the finish line, approaching the descent of the climb, Jonas Rutsch dropped Bais, who was shortly after caught by the peloton led by an excellent Alessandro Covi (UAE). Taking advantage of the descent, the courageous German remained at the front for a few more kilometers but, at the start of the second ascent to Superga, he definitively raised the white flag.
4 kilometers from the finish, Johannessen and Storer tried to attack, but UAE with Covi and Yates closed the gap again.
In the final moments of the race, about fifteen riders remained at the front, but with an attack just before the red triangle, Isaac del Toro (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) broke the deadlock, bringing Ben Tulett (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility) with him.
The Norwegian then tried, without success, to drop his opponents 300 meters from the finish. The decisive move came from the young rider from Ensenada, who put his name in the history book of the oldest classic.
