Tomorrow returns the world's oldest classic: the list of participants for the 106th Milan-Turin presented by Crédit Agricole has been announced, which will start from Rho and conclude, after 174 km, at Superga. The climb leading to the Basilica will host the finish of the world's oldest Classic, four years after Primoz Roglic's decisive move, in a race that is returning to favor climbers.
Among the most accredited riders at the start are Isaac Del Toro, Adam Yates, Richard Carapaz, Lorenzo Fortunato, Einer Rubio, Marc Hirschi and Michael Storer, but watch out for potential outsiders like Davide Formolo, Jorgen Nordhagen, Ivan Sosa, David De la Cruz and Simone Gualdi. Also present are three former winners: Diego Ulissi (2013), Michael Woods (2019) and Alberto Bettiol (2024).
THE ROUTE
The route is essentially flat in the first half, undulating with some notable difficulties in the second. Starting from Rho to cross the high Po Valley plains in the rice field area, touching Magenta, Novara and Vercelli, then heading towards the Po River through flat rice fields. Following an undulating section along wide and predominantly straight roads until reaching the final circuit. After San Mauro Torinese, the route follows the Po River along Corso Casale to climb to the Superga Basilica for the first time (diverting 600 m before the finish) to descend to Rivodora with a challenging descent that returns to San Mauro and then climb back to the finish with gradients even over 10%.
The last 5 km (repeated twice except for the final 600 m) begin in Turin on Corso Casale where the climb to the Superga Basilica starts. The average gradient is 9.1% with a peak around mid-climb of 14% and long stretches at 10%. 600 m from the finish, a U-turn to the left to tackle a ramp at 8.2% and then the final curve 50 m from the finish on asphalt (width 7m).
TV AND WEB BROADCAST
In Italy, the world's oldest Classic will be broadcast by Rai, with live TV starting on RaiSport at 14:20, and on Eurosport 2. tuttobiciweb will offer live coverage of the race from the first kilometer starting at 11:35.
