The probable cancellation was discussed last Sunday in Cerbaia di Lamporecchio during the Giuliano Baroni Grand Prix. Today came the confirmation that "Heroic Juniors, Nations Cup event scheduled from April 16th to 19th, has been canceled."
This was announced in a letter to the UCI (International Cycling Union) and to the teams that were supposed to participate, by Franco Rossi, president of the organizing society Heroic Italy.
The reasons are primarily economic. "The required quality level needs significant economic resources that are not easy to find. Our operational machine has continued so far, despite uncertainties, dedicating itself daily to organizational work, but arriving just weeks before the event, we must sadly acknowledge that we do not have the conditions to guarantee our event the necessary standard. We also want to thank all the institutions and companies that believed in the project and supported us. Heroic's daily work in the territory will certainly repay their trust. To the teams, we say goodbye and take the opportunity to renew the invitation to participate in the Siena-Montalcino-Andrea Meneghelli Cup, which will be held regularly on Saturday, May 17th."
A bitter decision that the entire Organizing Committee had to make, but in the absence of economic certainties, it was preferred to stop for this year.
