
Last year, Alessio Menghini of General Store's wheel was victorious on the straight of via Carraia, with a powerful sprint over a small peloton. The forecast for this 38th edition remains wide open and uncertain, with several riders aspiring to win the Tuscan opening classic in the name and unforgettable memory of Renzo Maltinti. There are 183 registered riders from 31 teams, including two foreign teams: U.C. Monaco and Zappi Racing, in a confrontation where some athletes are already well-prepared while others are not yet at their peak. The Saturday, February 22nd race, organized by Maltinti Banca Cambiano with the Cycling Sports Commission of the Empoli Municipality, will renew on the classic 149 km route, with gathering and departure from the magnificent Piazzale Michelangelo at 11:45 AM (official start at noon from Galluzzo) to reach via Carraia in Empoli after 41.5 km. Here begins the first of five 17 km laps with the climbs of Monteboro and Monterappoli, followed by the final 23 km lap that includes the short but tough climb of La Casetta, 4 km from the finish expected just after 3:30 PM.
