Jonathan Milan shows no mercy and secures another winning sprint in the fourth stage of the UAE Tour, the Fujairah Qidfa Beach - Umm al Quwain 181 km route. The giant from Friuli riding for Lidl Trek defeated, after an incredibly tight sprint, European champion Tim Merlier from Soudal Quick Step and Jasper Philipsen from Alpecin Deceuninck. For Milan, this marks his second victory in this race, third in the early part of the season, and nineteenth in his career. While Monday's win was a head-to-head with Merlier alone, who was later disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct, today's sprint involved all the top sprinters, which makes Milan's victory even more impressive.
In the general classification, world champion Tadej Pogacar remains in the lead, winner of yesterday's stage.
THE RACE. The stage was characterized by a long breakaway by Michael Leonard from Ineos Grenadiers and Djordje Djuric from Team Solution Tech - Vini Fantini. When the peloton caught them, other typical attackers like Tarozzi and Samudio set off, along with Quartucci and Djuric, but the Lidl - Trek team, which worked throughout the stage to control the attackers, did not give them any space and guided Milan to the final victory.
