The Irish rider Sam Bennett, representing the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team, won the sprint in the first stage of the CIC Tour de La Provence, the 175 km route from Aix-en-Provence to Saint-Victoret. At the end of a highly contested stage, where half the group was in the breakaway, Bennett preceded Lukas Kubis (Unibet Tietema Rockets) and Alexis Renard (Cofidis).
