Double is served for Olav Kooij who scores again at the Tour of Oman. The Dutch rider from Visma Lease a Bike beat Giacomo Nizzolo in the sprint, with Orluis Aular finishing third.
Suggestive start for the fourth and penultimate stage of the Tour of Oman, which began at the Oman Across Ages Museum and ended at the Exhibition Center after 181.5 km.
The race, almost completely lacking in significant altitude challenges, was characterized by an attack attempt by Muhammad Haizam Mohd Shabri (Terrenggaun team), Kongphob Thimachai (Roojal Insurance) and Abdulrahman Alyaqoobi (Oman team) who managed to gain up to 7.50 minutes. In the peloton, most of the work was once again done by young Pietro Mattio, who took full responsibility for the chase, leading the Visma Lease a Bike train.
The only breakaway rider who tried to resist the peloton's return was the Thai rider Thimachai, who rode solo from 40 km out. His attempt ended 14 km from the finish.
In front of the Exhibition Centre, the present audience could witness a superb sprint by Olav Kooij, who won his second stage in this Omani race.
Tomorrow, the Tour of Oman will stage its final act with the last stage from Jabal Al Akhdhar, aka the famous Green Mountain, where David Gaudu will try to defend the red leader's jersey.
THE FINISH
1. Kooij Olav (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) in 04:31:35
