A Florentine gathering in the province of Pisa, specifically in Peccioli, since the Florentine spirit unites not just Tuscany, but all of Italy. The meeting is at Bulleri butcher shop & bistro, to plan work, sip ideas, ruminate on the past, digest what didn't go well, and toast to what will come and go, because the Coppa Sabatini is in good health and sailing towards its 72nd edition, having only not taken place in 1977. Hosting the evening is Pecciolese president Luca Di Sandro, who seated at the desk the lawyer Cesare Di Cintio, former League commissioner, sports agent, and friend to many Italian societies. With them, Pecciolese secretary Gianluca Merlini, Andrea Tafi, winner of the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Lombardy, Paris-Tours, Piedmont, an Italian championship, and among other races, a Coppa Sabatini (back in 1997). And then Stefano Villi and regional president Luca Menichetti. All gathered around a good meal, for good intentions and a magic that must be renewed, because Pecciolese president Luca Di Sandro's dream is to make his creation increasingly beautiful. A cycling race that, around a table on a late winter evening, already takes on the flavor of a new spring.
