Hours of concern in Spain over Oscar Freire's disappearance: the family of the three-time world champion has today reported his disappearance to the Guardia Civil; this has been confirmed by police sources to Cadena SER.
According to initial reconstructions, Freire had left his personal belongings at home before disappearing: the ex-cyclist does not have with him neither phone, nor keys, nor wallet.
It has been learned that the former rider - who will turn 49 next February 15th - has not been heard from since yesterday, and this morning the family filed a missing person report, also because the ex-rider often left home without phone or money, so initially no alarm was raised.
Freire returned on Monday from the AlUla Tour to which he had been invited, and came back home where he stayed with his wife and three children. His son Marcos, who opened his season racing in Castellón and the Mallorca Challenge, had also returned to the family home on the same Monday.
As often happens in these cases, news is emerging in a fragmented manner and at the moment the discovery of the ex-rider's car seems to be denied.
