Mario Cipollini has posted a reflection on the current state of cycling today. We are sharing it because it can be a starting point for discussion and, why not, perhaps a point of departure.
It's the moment of tennis, it's great to see Italy at the top of the world. I like to think back to the past when we in cycling were the dominators of our sport (and perhaps we did so for decades)... Then unfortunately the system changed, the powerful forces handed cycling over to drivers incapable of thinking about the good of our sport, but only about personal interests. The important thing was to tell everyone that everything was fine and everyone was happy and content...: this is the result.
Biraghi's speech yesterday (president of the Tennis Federation, ed.) is proof that without well-studied projects, without a work group expressed by capable and experienced people, in this historical period you don't go anywhere. But cycling continues to recycle the same heads for a long time, maybe moving them to different roles, but they are the same heads... We carry on by basking in the past and waiting for some casual solo performance from Italian cycling.
