Hours of waiting for the assignment of wildcards for the Giro d'Italia 2025. Expected for this weekend, but likely we'll have to wait a few more days: "the decision will reasonably arrive on Monday or Tuesday" Giro director Mauro Vegni told us this morning.
The race now seems to be narrowed down to four teams for three spots, after Lotto's announced withdrawal: the Italian Team Polti VisitMalta and VF Group Bardiani CSF Faizané, which seem to be in the lead, and the Swiss Q36.5 Pro Cycling and Tudor Pro Cycling. In particular, work is being done on the competitive front: on one side there is the possible presence of Tom Pidcock, who yesterday scored his first season victory with the Q36.5 jersey, while in the Tudor camp there could be the presence of at least one between Julian Alaphilippe and Marc Hirschi, who has also already won in this season's start at the Valencia GP.
