A great celebration took place recently to commemorate 30 years of activity and the closure of the excellent 2024 season for the Praseccobiesse cycling society from Dese, in the province of Venice. The team, directed by the legendary and historic Alfredo Scibilia and averaging between 80 and 90 members over the years, celebrated this extraordinary event at Villa Braida in Mogliano Veneto. The society was established on March 18, 1993, in Mestre by a group of amateur cyclists who used to meet to ride in the Prasecco area, from which it took its name, and which registered with the Italian Cycling Federation that same year.
In a short time, the association reached a significant number of registered cyclists, including many from the female sector who decided to challenge themselves in Granfondo races, which were unknown to most at the time. The club, which organizes road races, medium-distance, and time trial events, participated in the most important granfondo competitions in Italy in 2024 with a team of around thirty athletes. The novelty of the just-concluded season and looking towards future ones was the opening to the Gravel world, where a considerable number of athletes were involved.
The club is also dedicated to cycle tourism, participating in numerous initiatives, among which the Itinerant Cycling Tours organized in Italy and abroad stand out. Thanks to the excellent work of its managers, Praseccobiesse, which is supported by the Biesse company on Via Castellana in Mestre, has become an important point of reference for cycle tourism in the area.
During the social dinner celebrating the club's 30 years of life, the brand-new jersey dedicated to gravel riders was presented. After greetings from President Alfredo Scibilia, the evening proceeded with the awards ceremony for the great protagonists of the cycling season, with medals presented to the key players. This was done by the Mayor of Mirano and former club sports director, Tiziano Baggio, and rowing champion Marino Almansi. Subsequently, the club's vice president, Massimo Mamprin, illustrated the interesting cycle tourism tour planned for June, and finally, manager Massimo Mantovani took the floor to explain the gravel activities and present the new sector-dedicated jersey. The beautiful evening concluded with the arrival of the cake and blowing out the candles to celebrate Praseccobiesse's 30th birthday.
